The Chemistry of Polyethylene Insulation

چکیده
The physical properties of a polyethylene resin are mainly though not exclusively dependent on basic molecular properties such as short chain branching, average molecular weight and molecular weight distribution. These basic properties in turn are controlled by the size, structure and uniformity of the polyethylene molecules. Ethylene is a gaseous hydrocarbon composed of two carbon atoms and four hydrogen atoms, C2H4, arranged as indicated in Fig. 1.

Thermal-insulation performance of low density polyethylene (LDPE) foams: Comparison between two radiation thermal conductivity models
The loss of energy especially in industrial and residential buildings is one of the main reasons of increased energy consumption. Improving the thermal insulation properties of materials is a fundamental method for reducing the energy losses. Polymeric foams are introduced as materials with excellent thermal insulation properties for this purpose. In the present study, a deep theoretical invest...

Polyolefins have been widely used in the electrical insulation and cable industry in recent years. One of the main usages of these materials is dielectric insulation in coaxial cables. Low attenuation and high signal transmission speed are among the desired features in coaxial cables. The role of polyethylene foam on signal transmission speed in the coaxial cables is the main focus of this stud...

Polysulfide resins, with trade name of G4 and G112, with short and long chain lengths respectively, were used as reactive modifiers to toughen epoxy resin. The effects of molecular weights of G4 and G112 on impact resistance, dielectric constant, thermal conductivity as well as decomposition heat and adhesion properties of toughened epoxy were investigated. The impact strength and the diel...
متن کاملThermal and catalytic degradation study of polyethylene and investigation the catalytic effect of X-Zeolite and Silica-Alumina on degradation kinetic
The thermal degradation of polyethylene (PE) was carried out in the absence and presence ofcatalystes X-Zeolite and Silica-Alumina at different temperatures. The optimum PE/Catalysisratio was 0.25:0.05 g/g, which produced highest degradation value. PE and PE/Catalysis werecharacterized by thermogravimetric analysis. The thermal degradation properties of polymerhave been studied by Infrared spec...
